New Hummer 3 - H3

After making a celebrated debut at the 2004 Greater Los Angeles Auto Show, the new Hummer 3 was finally released by GM in 2005. After much speculation in the press, the new Hummer 3 turned out to be a midsize truck suitable for urban driving as well as off-road adventures. Being much smaller than the earlier Hummer models – H1 and H2 – the new Hummer 3 proved to the world that you can cram a lot of punch into a tiny package.

The target audience for the new Hummer 3 is people who want to combine the sturdiness of a tough off-road vehicle with the convenience of an urban-style car. Just like its predecessors, the new Hummer 3 is has a low roofline, wide stance and wheels that are situated at the corners of the car. In the new H3, the wheelbase is no less than 118.6 inches while the car is 74.5 inches across. Simultaneously, it is filled with a lot of convenient features such as drop-down assist steps, a large pickup box that incorporates side-access doors, and a power-operated folding sunroof. There are a lot of really smart solutions to explore, e.g. the abovementioned drop-down assist steps which will double as weather-tight storage facilities, and a rear window which is drop-down in order to give you that wonderful open-air feeling during summer trips.

When the new Hummer 3 was released, the main question asked by media and prospective drivers was naturally: How well will the new Hummer 3 measure up in tough terrain? The answer to this question turned out to be very well. The new H3 is fitted with 34 inch tall tires and has proven capable of effortlessly traversing really tricky terrain that make many other 4x4’s give up. Thanks to these 34 inch tires, the new Hummer 3 has an astonishing 51 degree approach angle. You will also be happy to hear that the Hummer 3 comes with no less than 11.5 inches of ground clearance and a 50 degree departure angle. A lot of people were afraid that the new, urban Hummer would not be able to handle rough terrain, but these worries certainly turned out to be unsubstantiated.
